Fantasy and The Tower

Game Title 

• The Viral Games- By Luis & Frank Torres

High Concept – The infectious Tecatevirus has struck New York city and has become the epicenter of the incident. Political tensions are high, all states are looking out for themselves, rendering treatment for all New Yorkers scarce. The city has not found a way to properly distribute supplies, so it is holding a monthly event to choose which borough gets to get the most supplies. The event consists of each borough selecting 1 person to represent them. Forming 4 participants, Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. Once the participants have been selected they must meet on the 1st floor of the empire state building, and then they must race to the top, whoever reaches the last floor, is victorious. Every 17 floors, the participants must do activities such as collecting stuff, or clearing some obstacles to make sure the event is not solely just climbing. It is televised after all, it must be entertaining.

  • Beat all the other players to reach the top of the Empire State building before they do.
• Game’s precedents & how it differs from these 
  • The game shares mechanics with Ludo, Monopoly and Life. It will differ from them because there will be pauses in the middle of the game for players to do real life activities, and in the game the players are not tasked to collect anything like in Monopoly or Life.

• Game’s selling points, and potential profitability and/or impact.
  
  • It seems like a worst case scenario of something fictitious, yet not so detached from reality. This might prove to catch people's attention and make profit.

Target Audience & Description

• Mostly people who are familiar with or are interested about New York and people that are into desperate actions that post-apocalyptic cities take to survive.

Heuristic Goals

• Does it seem like a long game, having to move 102 spaces?
• Are the activity cards too distracting or detached from the purpose of the game?
• Would more interaction between the players add to the enjoyment?

Game Play Instructions and / or Overview

• This is 2-4 player game. The players will take turns and whoever rolls the highest value with both dice, will go first, if there's a tie, the tied players must roll again. Players need to move across 102 tiles in a board with a pair of dice, they reach a checkpoint every 17 tiles. In these tiles, players must draw an activity card which will tell them of an activity for them to while the other players keep advancing, when a player finishes their activity, they may continue advancing. If they find that the activity they randomly picked is impossible for them to do, they are able to shuffle the activity cards up to 3 times. If a player gets to roll doubles on the dice 2 times in a row, their avatar will stumble down the stairs and go back to the last checkpoint.

Assets

• 1 six-sided board, each side will have 17 tiles.
• 2 dice
• 4 avatars to symbolize what borough each player is
• 24 different activity cards.

Scoring & Victory Conditions

• The player who reaches the top of the Empire State building will be victorious.
